The #1 piece of health advice I’ve heard repeated by traditional healers and the local people on the island of Bali:
Initially recorded by Elizabeth Gilbert in her bestseller Eat, Pray, Love, Ketut tells her:
To meditate, only you must smile. Smile with face, smile with mind, and good energy will come to you and clean away dirty energy. Even smile in your liver. Practice tonight at hotel. Not to hurry, not to try too hard. Too serious, you make you sick. You can calling the good energy with a smile. (p. 231)
And when an American friend who has many health problems went to see one of the most respected Balian healers, he told her:
Just smile. Smile everyday. Smile at yourself in the mirror. Smile as you breathe in, smile as you breathe out. Breathe ecstasy up from your lower abdomen, breathe passion up from your middle abdomen, breathe desire down from your heart, and then smile. Smile inside, smile outside. Once you understand and do this, smiling inside and out, you will be healthy.
When I tell any locals that I’m interested in learning more about Balinese healing and meeting another Balian, they all tell me, just smile–the key to health is to smile.
The Balinese have a wonderful sense of humor–very simple humor. They love to laugh and tease each other. They don’t take themselves too seriously. And of course, they smile. A lot.
But the best thing about this health approach?
Totally free. Totally no negative side-effects.
Only feel good energy, positive vibes for you and the universe.
