I know the options for studying TCM in Shanghai are very limited. And I’ve had a lot of people express surprise, frustration, and disappointment over this.

I’ve also had a lot of friends and other Shanghai expats express interest in a TCM class that is

√ in Shanghai

√ in English

√ part-time

√ basic and accessible for people with no medical training

√ doesn’t conflict with work or other classes

√ affordable, and

√ convenient

Given that there is so much demand, and I’m thrilled so many people want to learn about TCM, I had to do something.  Since I know a TCM doctor who teaches, I approached her about doing an independent class.  She loved the idea.

So here is the plan:

  • 1-2 times/week
  • March to May 2011
  • Taught by Dr. Zhang
  • 8-10 students per class
  • She has her own teaching materials and textbook

If you’re interested in, please send me an email with

  • Your name
  • If you prefer Saturday or Sunday mornings or weekday evenings
  • If you prefer Hong Kou district, Hengshan Road, or can volunteer to host

My email is TofflerN {at} gmail [dot] com

This should be a great opportunity to have a solid introduction to TCM with one of Shanghai’s most active teachers and experienced practitioners of TCM.

If you’re interested, this spring Dr. Zhang is also planning on teaching a more advanced class on Meridians for those who already know basic TCM theory.  You can contact me about that as well.
