My journey as a Yogini started in 2000 in World Religions class, when I first tried yoga and hated it. Yes, hated it… A deep appreciation of yoga starts with the right introduction…
Two years later I tried again. This time I came away feeling not only like I’d had a proper workout, but felt well-stretched, de-stressed, and had a calmer mind and slower breath. I was hooked and thus my practice of yoga began.
In my 10 years as a yogini, I’ve studied in the US, India, China, Hong Kong, and Bali,Indonesia. For me, yoga has aided weight loss, fostered an awareness of and connection between heart, mind, and body, made me gain confidence after holding free-stand headstands and arm balances, been the source of compliments for strong lean arms, improved my breath capacity and meditation, and helped me to find peace with myself and the dramas of life many times over.
It wasn’t until I was asked repeatedly to teach yoga that I decided to deepen my practice and share this beautiful gift by becoming a yoga teacher. My yoga teacher training was done with the wonderful teachers at Inner Vision Yoga of Chandler-Tempe. In August 2012, I became a registered yoga teacher through Yoga Alliance (USA), and have been doing office lunchtime and in-home private lessons ever since.
